The next Dota 2 Major tournament will be held by Valve, the developer of Dota 2, on August 4 to 14 in Texas, Arlington, United States. The tournament will serve as the closing of a long DPC 2021/2022 series, before the biggest DOTA 2 event in the world, The International 1.
In accordance with Valve's slot allocation, there will be 4 qualified teams each from Western Europe (WEU) and China, 3 each from Eastern Europe (EEU) and Southeast Asia (SEA), and 2 each from North America (NA) and South America (SA). This year’s Major is indeed the last battle for teams that have not received enough DPC points to get a direct invite to The International 11. The eighteen teams will compete in the Arlington Major for a total $500k prize pool and also 4570 DPC points (the biggest DPC point prize in the 2021/2022 DPC series).
Arlington Major will hold a round-robin format with a best of two series, all 18 teams will be divided into two groups (9 teams each). The top four teams in each group will advance to the top bracket of the playoffs, while the fifth and sixth place teams move to the lower bracket.
While the remaining teams will be eliminated. There will be a double elimination bracket for the remaining 12 teams in the playoffs. Only the grand final will be a best of five series. All other series will be best of three. Can you feel the excitement?
