Placing in the top four, the Indonesian PUBG Mobile national team advanced to the Grand Final of the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games. Unfortunately, representatives from other countries were still too strong that the Indonesian national team failed to win a medal in the sport category.
The Indonesian PUBG Mobile national team, ended up in fourth place after competing over four rounds, facing three other finalists, including China, South Korea and Taiwan. This means that the Indonesian PUBG Mobile national team has not been able to win a medal at the Asian Games this time.
In the final match, the young Garuda team recorded a game time of 53 minutes. Meanwhile, the third position was won by Taiwan with a very thin time difference, which recorded 51 minutes as well as winning the bronze medal. The second position was occupied by South Korea, while China - the host of Asian Games 2022 - won the gold medal, with a game time of 44 minutes.
Of course, this was a huge disappointment for Indonesia, but even more so for the athletes who competed on its behalf. According to Antara, Juventino Ryan Jeremy Rolos said that although he was happy that the national team could play in the final, their performance shown in the 2022 Asian Games was far from satisfactory.
"There is still a lack of preparation to compete in this Asian Games. But we are quite happy to be in the final," he said.
It should be noted that the PUBG Mobile sport at the 2022 Asian Games is different from usual, because it does not feature Battle Royale competition. Although each team still consists of four people, the format of the match is a race. During the race, they must show their dexterity to shoot various target objects and collect points.
The Indonesian PUBG Mobile team was actually very strong, starting from the preliminaries to the Grand Final. Unfortunately, as the only ASEAN representative to qualify, it seems that the Indonesian PUBG Mobile Team still couldn't meet public expectations.
