List of 16 Teams Competing in The International 2023 Playoffs

Dota 2's biggest world championship event, The International 2023, will now hold its Playoffs. Held in the city of Seattle, United States, the Playoffs are scheduled to begin on October 21, 2023.

A total of 16 teams will be fighting in the Playoffs. These teams are Team Spirit, Virtus.pro, Team Liquid, Talon Esports, LGD Gaming, 9Pandas, nouns, and Azure Ray who will play in the Upper Bracket.

Meanwhile, the remaining eight teams that will have to play from the Lower Bracket are Shopify Rebellion, TSM, Evil Geniuses, Gaimin Gladiators, Keyd Stars, BetBoom Team, Tundra Esports, and Entity.

Previously, four teams were eliminated from The International. The four teams were Southeast Asian representative Team SMG, South American teams Thunder Awaken and beastcoast, and finally PSG Quest.

Team SMG was eliminated in the group stage after only being able to record two draws and two losses in group A. Meanwhile in group B, Team Liquid, BetBoom Team, Azure Ray, and Shopify Rebellion successfully sent Thunder Awaken home early.

In group C, beastcoast must be willing to be eliminated after only being able to sit in the last rank of the standings table under LGD Gaming, Gaimin Gladiators, nouns, and Virtus.pro. Meanwhile, in group D, PSG Quest fell after recording two draws and two losses and was below Tundra Esports, TSM, Talon Esports, and Keyd Stars.

As a result, the remaining 16 teams dueled in the second phase or seeding decider which ensured which teams would begin their journey in the Playoffs in the Upper or Lower Bracket, namely:

Upper Bracket:

  • Team Spirit vs Virtus.pro
  • Team Liquid vs Talon Esports
  • LGD Gaming vs 9Pandas
  • nouns vs Azure Ray

Lower Bracket:

  • Shopify Rebellion vs TSM
  • Evil Genuises vs Gaimin Gladiator
  • Keyd Stars vs BetBoom
  • Tundra vs Entity
