A big surprise came from ONIC Esports in early 2023. ONIC Esports officially announced that they have released their PUBGM Ladies team, ONIC Axe.
This was announced on Monday (27/2/23) through a post on ONIC Esports' official Instagram account. They announced that CECIL, SOTPHE, Mickey, and Scarlet were officially released, following their coach Dyns7 who also went to ARF Team.
ONIC Axe was first formed in January 2022, after being acquired from Capital9 (now called Tiger Wong Esports). After that, ONIC AXE also appeared quite fierce compared to the previous PUBGM ladies team.
ONIC Axe managed to become the PUBG Mobile Valkyrie Battleground (PMVB) Season 1 Champion. After that, ONIC Axe also managed to finish in 3rd place in the Garuda Pro Series League (GPSL) tournament, then won 3rd place in the PMVB Season 2 tournament. Despite their up and down performance in 2022, ONIC Axe is still arguably one of the strongest PUBGM Ladies teams in Indonesia.
Until now, there has been no latest update about the PUBGM ladies tournament. Most likely, this is a consideration from ONIC Esports who finally released Axe and wanted to focus on other divisions.
Although surprising, ONIC's decision to release Axe is a joint decision agreed upon by ONIC Esports management and former players from the Axe team. It will be interesting to see where CECIL, SOTPHE, Mickey, and Scarlet will end up.
Before releasing ONIC Axe, ONIC also just a few weeks ago released the male PUBG Mobile team and four players from the second division Mobile Legends team, ONIC Prodigy. Currently, ONIC Esports only has the Mobile Legends division team and ONIC Olympus in the Free Fire game branch. Hopefully, the remaining divisions won't disband too!
