Yesterday (29/6), Riot together with Sony announced their multi-year partnership to make the new Sony INZONE, as the official headset partner for the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) 2022 Stage 2 Masters Copenhagen which will be held from July 10-24, 2022.

As part of their partnership, the tournament will be introducing a new feature called “Open Mic” broadcast segment, where the audience could hear live audio from players during the game. This broadcast segment aims to highlight the importance of communication during matches. 

COO of Riot Games Esports, Whalen Rozelle spoke on the deal, saying:

“Communication is a critical aspect of VALORANT and this partnership will enable us to bring our viewing audiences deeper into the most exciting moments of our biggest matches. Sony’s commitment to innovation will further elevate VALORANT as a leading global esport.”

Unfortunately, there’s little information regarding how this new segment will work. But it definitely will hype up the tournament more and there’s a chance we could also feel every team’s tension in every game via their conversation audio. This is certainly going to be a fun experience.

As of the announcement, Sony is joining other Valorant global partners like Verizon, HyperX, RedBull, AimLab, SecretLab, and Prime Gaming. With this, all VCT events will be provided with the so-called INZONE Gaming Headset. 

One question remains, which INZONE Gaming Headset will the tournament use? Is it the H9, H7, or H3? For your information, H9 and H7 are bluetooth headset which will work great with bluetooth dongle, while H3 is a wired headset. The difference between the H9 and H7 is that the H9 has the ANC feature and the toggle Ambient sound mode.

Meanwhile, a total of 12 teams will fight for VCT points at the Stage 2 Masters, where a few of them will earn a slot at the VCT Champions event which is scheduled to start in early September in Istanbul.
