A few months ago, T1 announced the disbanned of the DOTA 2 division with the reason of wanting to focus on the League of Legends (LoL) and Valorant divisions. Well, it seems that the decision is starting to pay off as their LoL division has just managed to carve out a new history in the LCK Spring Split tournament.
This adds to the history that T1 has made, where in the previous year at the same event they managed to become champions by defeating Gen.G with a score of 3-1. Amazingly, they managed to become an unbeaten team for one season in the tournament.
This year, T1 made a new history with 17 wins. Not only that, T1 also managed to close Spring Split 2023 with 13 consecutive wins.
Previously, Gen.G was the most recent team to do so when it won 17 matches and set the LCK single-split win percentage record.
Kemenangan beruntun tiga kali berturut-turut tersebut juga pernah dilalukan oleh satu tim lain dalam sejarah LCK (SK Telecom 2015) yang telah mencapai angka 17 kemenangan.
The three-game winning streak has also been done by one other team in LCK history (SK Telecom 2015) which has reached 17 wins.
T1 managed to post a 26-4 individual game record during that 13-game streak, and finished the split with a total game record of 35-8. In this tournament, T1 managed to finish four games ahead of the other teams in the standings, so they secured the first seed in the LCK Spring playoffs by a large margin.
The LCK Spring Playoffs will kick off this Wednesday, March 22, with an opening round match between KT Rolster and Liiv SANDBOX. T1 will play their first playoff match on Saturday, March 25.
For information, T1 had to win two best-of-five series in the Spring Playoffs upper bracket session to automatically secure their spot in the MSI (Mid Season Invitational).
