Evil Geniuses' CS:GO division is finally starting to move after rumors that the team will bring in one of the best pro players in the game, refrezh.
Evil Geniuses has long been unheard of in the CS:GO scene. The last time they achieved in 2020, when they won ESL One: Cologne 2020 Online for the North American region after defeating Team Liquid via a fierce score of 3-2.
Titleless for almost 3 years, Evil Geniuses finally realized. Quoted from Blix's sources, it is reported that the Danish player, Ismail "refrezh" Ali, is in the process of almost signing a contract with Evil Geniuses.
refrezh is a young player who is best known for bringing the Heroic team to win several tier-1 tournaments. Not only has he contributed to Heroic, refrezh has also been involved with the OpTic Gaming team, and won the title at DreamHack Open Summer 2019.
Out from Heroic, refrezh briefly joined Sprout, but did not last long and decided to leave the team due to a mismatch.
It was also reported that Evil Geniuses had intentions of removing Jadan "HexT" Postma, the current Evil Geniuses CS:GO mainstay, from the core team. HexT joined the team last summer, but failed to bring Evil Geniuses back to its golden days, so it seems like a tough decision for management to make in order to take Evil Geniuses in a better direction.
However, as of the time of this article was written, both refrezh and HexT's statuses remain the same as before. There have been no confirmed changes from either party. Keep in mind, this is still just a rumor.
Evil Geniuses' next tournament is the BLAST Premier Spring Showdown 2023 Americas, which is scheduled to take place on March 29 to April 2. Has Evil Geniuses brought refrezh as its new member for that tournament?
