EVOS Esports has done it again on the international tour, this time with its Icon division claiming the world title through World Cyber Games (WCG) 2023. The WCG 2023 playoffs venue in BEXCO, South Korea, witnessed the historic moment of EVOS Esports claiming another world title.

WCG 2023 was quite a dramatic journey for EVOS Icon, who competed against ONIC Overlord, as well as ECHO PH in the MPL and MDL divisions.

In the early match of the WCG 2023 Playoffs, EVOS Icon shutdown compatriots ONIC Overlord with a score of 2-0. In the next match, EVOS Icon experienced defeat in the upper bracket semifinal match against ECHO Proud, until finally dropping to the lower bracket final. 

In the lower bracket final, EVOS Icon had 2 choices: go home or be sent home by ONIC Overlord. Of course, EVOS Icon chose to send ONIC Overlord home, 2-0, to secure the summit party slot.

EVOS Icon's story at the top was long and dramatic. From a 2-0 lead, EVOS Icon was slowly chased down by ECHO Proud.

The fierce resistance given by ECHO Proud managed to make EVOS Icon cornered. There was almost a reverse sweep, fortunately EVOS Icon managed to realize in the last game, especially Sutsujin who went berserk.

Realizing his team was almost hit by a reverse sweep, Sutsujin unleashed his full potential in the last game. In the final minutes, Sutsujin's Martis made a radical move by leveling ECHO Proud's retainer to get Savage.

That moment made EVOS Icon successfully wiped out ECHO Proud's troops, and ECHO Proud's base was broken instantly. New history was made on Sunday (7/30/23). EVOS Icon defeated ECHO Proud, the MDL division of ECHO PH, in the final match with a fierce score of 3-2.

EVOS Icon took home the WCG 2023 trophy and US$20,000 in prize money. Congratulations, EVOS Icon!
