Fnatic's VALORANT team is set to play with a substitute player at VCT EMEA due to visa issues preventing their starting player, Emir "Alfajer" Beder, from attending the tournament in Berlin, Germany. As a result, Maks "kamyk" Rychlewski will continue to fill in for Alfajer.
Fnatic's VALORANT team director Colin "CoJo" Johnson has confirmed that the organization is working to bring Alfajer back to the starting lineup as soon as possible. However, there are currently no immediate solutions available to expedite the process.
"We got an update yesterday that they are prioritizing visas for earthquake victims so that’s where the further delay comes from," CoJo explained. "We got good news on his long-term visa this week—but just waiting on the short-term solution to come through any day."
Despite the visa issues, Fnatic has had a successful start to the VCT EMEA tournament, having won their opening match against Giants. Kamyk played a crucial role in the team's victory, using Killjoy and Cypher to finish with a positive K/D ratio and a 1.09 rating.
Fnatic's strong performance comes as no surprise, given their dominant run at VCT LOCK//IN São Paulo between February and early March. The team lifted the trophy after beating world champions LOUD in the grand finals.
Looking ahead, Fnatic will face off against BBL in the second round of VCT EMEA tomorrow. Although BBL lost their opening match against Karmine Corp, the team put up a fight, taking the game to two close maps.
Despite the temporary setback caused by visa issues, Fnatic remains a formidable opponent in the tournament. Fans will undoubtedly be eagerly awaiting the return of Alfajer to the starting lineup, but until then, Kamyk and the rest of the team will continue to give it their all.
