Valve has finally announced the division of teams that will compete in the playoffs of The International 2022 which will take place from Thursday (20/10/22) to Sunday (23/10/22). The match will then continue to the final round next week, to be exact on 29 – 30 October 2022.
Of the total 16 teams that will compete in this round, eight of them, which are the top four teams from groups A and B, will enter the upper bracket. Meanwhile, the other eight teams that enter the lower bracket will face bigger consequences, because they will immediately lift their suitcases if they lose.
Previously, there were 20 teams that competed in the group stage and were divided into two groups. The bottom two teams from each group must stop their move from TI.
So far, the teams that have left first are Soniqs and BetBoom from group A, as well as Talon Esports and TSM from group B.
On the other hand, the BOOM team's escape was quite dramatic, because they got the opportunity for a tiebreaker after slaughtering Evil Geniuses who were at the top of Group A.
The International 2022 Playoff Schedule
Team Secret and Liquid made it into the upper bracket, followed by other teams, namely Evil Geniuses, Thunder Awaken, PSG LGD, Tundra, OG, and Aster.
Then Team Spirit, who won the previous TI, unfortunately had to enter through the lower bracket path. The other seven teams that entered this position are Hokori, beastcoast, BOOM, Fnatic, Gaimin Gladiators, Royal Never Give Up, and Entity.
The teams competing in the lower bracket will use the best of 1 format, while the format for the upper bracket is best of 3. The team that loses from the upper bracket.
