The United Nations (UN) will be hosting a video game event for the first time. It will be the home for the 20th Games for Change Festival! The event will take place on July 18-20 at the UN headquarters in New York City.
The annual festival is organized by the non-profit organization, Games For Change, which aims to make the world a better place through video games. The festival will also include two new items, including first-ever Games- and Sustainable Development Goals Summit, marking the first time the gaming industry has convened with the UN.
The festival will consist of many exciting events, which was co-organized with the United Nations Development Programme and the United Nations Environment Programme. Games for Change will also organize Next Gen Fest, a festival for students aged 13 through 18.
Games for Change Festival 2023 will once again aim to help connect young people with professionals in the gaming industry, giving them the opportunity to learn design and coding skills, as well as take part in workshops. Games for Change itself has run a number of initiatives and projects.
One of them is XR for Change, which encourages immersive media to "address real-world challenges, create empathy and drive social change," and to "foster collaboration between content creators, industry and cause-based organizations, advance equality and inclusion, and inspire the creative use of emerging technologies for social impact."
